PressReader: User Guide

This guide has been prepared for using PressReader on a mobile device, which offers the most user-friendly experience. It's also possible to use PressReader on a computer (desktop version), but not all functionalities are available in the desktop version.

 

Connecting using a web browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge, Firefox) will allow you to read newspapers and magazines on your mobile device or laptop while connected to the Internet.

Connect on-site for access in ITU buildings and offices

1. While on-site in ITU premises, connect to ITU's network via:

Then, using the web browser of your choice, tap or click here to open the ITU Library’s A-Z list of eResources or type in the URL https://libraryguides.itu.int/az.php.

Once you've opened the A-Z list of eResources, tap or click on the letter P.

2. Next, tap or click on PressReader to open the platform.

3. Your device will be authenticated and a welcome message will be displayed. Next, tap or click on Select Publication to begin browsing the PressReader publication catalogue.

 

Look for the green coffee cup at the top of your screen – this indicates that you are connected to a PressReader HotSpot and that your device has been authenticated. 

Connect remotely (for ITU staff only)

1. Open a web browser (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Firefox).

2. Tap or click here to open the ITU Library’s A-Z list of eResources or type in the URL https://libraryguides.itu.int/az.php.

Once you've opened the A-Z list of eResources, tap or click on the letter P.

3. Next, tap or click on PressReader to open the platform.
4. Click on Sign in at the top right corner of the screen.

5. Click on Library or Group button.

6. Search for itu - and select the ITU – International Telecommunication Union badge that appears.

7. Click on Single Sign-On.

8. The Microsoft login page will open.

Enter your @itu.int email address and then password. Click on Sign in.

Enter the authentication code if required.

9. Your device will be authenticated and a welcome message will be displayed.

Tap or click on Select Publication to begin browsing the PressReader publication catalogue.

10. Choose to navigate via PressReader App if already installed on your device or choose to continue on the web platform.

Change interface language

The PressReader interface is available in many different languages. You can change the interface language by following these steps.

1. Click on the three dots next to the Sign in button.  
2. Click on Interface Language.
3. Scroll through the list of languages, then click on the language that you would like to use.
4. The interface language will now appear in the language that you selected.

 

Find and read publications

1. There are a number of ways to browse or search for newspapers and magazines in PressReader.

  • Browse by country or by language by tapping or clicking on the Filter button to enable filters and then make a selection from one of the dropdown menus
  • Browse by category by scrolling down and tapping or clicking on a category in the list
  • Search for a publication by typing the name of the newspaper or magazine into the search box at the top of the screen. If it’s available, it will appear in the list below the search box. 

    Tap or click on the publication cover to open it. 

2. Then, tap or click on the Read Now button to start reading.
